Rachel’s art is her innermost self laid bare. It’s authentic and emotional, connecting intimately with the viewer through mood and atmosphere. It’s felt before it’s known.
Rooted in curiosity and led by intuition, Rachel’s work is a true collaboration between mediums, the natural elements, her surroundings, her subconscious mind, and mystery. She’s primal and free when she creates, anchored throughout by a deep self-trust. It excites her to wonder precisely where a piece will take her.
Rachel’s process is an act of discovery. As she pours, blends, and torches materials and inks, organic and biomorphic forms reveal themselves to her from the amorphous, chaotic stains on the substrate. Her painting becomes progressively intentional as she works.
Whether layering paint, blending inks, incorporating situational grass and seeds, or sculpting and scorching with fire, materiality is integral to the meaning of Rachel’s work. The beautifully distressed, textured, weathered surfaces of her work reveal time, gesture, and alchemy from the elements. Her work appears to have lived.
The creative process is intimate, spiritual, and healing for Rachel, and she considers it a privilege to share her work with others
